HURRAY! Congratulations Diablo, i have enjoyed the last 20 years, and i hope to enjoy this franchise until the day i enter the RL Sanctuary.

Yesterday i expected a Diablo 4 or Diablo 3 expansion announcement. Alas, we did not get any. 🙁

What we did get was the announcement of the Necromancer, a new class for Diablo 3, pretty cool actually, but slightly dissapointing. What made it super dissapointing was the fact we will get our hands on it sometime in the second half of 2017… Oh yeah, it will cost $$ to purcashe, something i don’t mind that much, i would prefer to give them lots of $$ for an expansion instead though.

Don’t get me wrong, it is good news, but seriously, i expected some goodies for this years blizzcon, and i most certainly expected something more than a new class 1 year from now.

We got some more stuff though… an annual event, every year in January, the Darkening of Tristram kicks off and takes your character back to the first time Diablo invaded Tristram. From the developers own mouth it will be filled with iconic enemies, familiar faces, and some old-school items, the event will be a nostalgia-packed adventure down memory lane. We will get transmogrification rewards, achievements, and a few extra surprises appearently awaits us in the depths below Tristram.

Now… this is pretty cool on first glance… but… the dungeons will just be created from Diablo 3 tileset… nothing Diablo 1 unique about it… 🙁
And… it is only open 1 month per year… what… 🙁
I do love it though, and it is a nice homage to Diablo 1, so thanks to the developers for that. Again… i just expected more from Blizzcon.

I will most certainly play the PTR next week, and try out the Darkening of Tristram myself… i will enjoy myself, no doubt.

Of other interesting things we will get for Diablo 3 is:

The Armory

The Armory is an equipment manager that stores up to five full load outs for your characters. This includes your skills, passives, items, Kanai’s Cube powers, and even your Legendary Gems!

Challenge Rifts

This info is taken from reddit, i will update when i learn more later today.

  • Everyone will have the exact same paragon, items, gear, gems, skills, everyone is equaled out
  • The rift will be based on a real anonymous player with his/her loadout
  • The system will randomly choose this players loadout and distribute it to everyone who will now try to beat that players time
  • There will be a LB attached do all the challenge rifts
  • Devs don’t know how often they will rotate out the challenge rifts
  • C.Rifts will be active long enough to develop a “meta”

So, there you have it. 2017 will be a decent year if you like the way Diablo 3 plays currently, there will be no major game design reworks, no expansions, no new content besides 2 areas. This will not change the way i currently play Diablo 3, which is when a new season launches, i play the game for a few weeks, and thoroughly enjoy myself, and then i stop playing.

I miss Diablo being harder… maybe not launch Inferno hard… but then again… maybe exactly like that. In Diablo 1 stuff was dangerous, stunlocking you, succubis kicking your arse… in Diablo 2… well stuff were even harder, insta killing you just like that… MLEB, Iron Maiden, Dolls…. yep… i still have nightmares. I know i could just aim for the higher Greater Rifts in Diablo 3, but i simply just don’t find them fun in the long run… 🙁

I enjoy the Story Mode, i like the acts the developers have created for us. I miss opening a game, having 7 random people join, and just quest away with the nice extra xp buff in Diablo 2.
I have never played more solo, than i do in Diablo 3… grouping is weird, and i don’t know why.

I look forward to trying out the Necromancer, and i will most certainly enjoy the Darkening of Tristram… but i expected more…

Thanks for all the fun Blizzard Entertainment

Update: Bugged skill is “Consecration – Shattered Ground”.

Consecration – Shattered Ground is Bugged. Do not use it on Hardcore!

I just died to 2 normal mobs in a rift, doing some kind of damage to myself, i have no clue what causes it, but even when fighting Treasure Goblin, and using my skills, i sometimes got hurt badly.

It all started after the patch, i suddenly took !@#$loads of (bugged) damage, while fighting mobs, so i kinda just took a break, and “waited” out the fixes, Blessed Shield etc. Then i decided to test a Rift just now, and behold… fighting 2 NORMAL FALLENS, in Torment 1, with my 13million toughness and 500k dps, i somehow died.

It happened so fast i didnt even have time to drink my potion nor press my “Akarat’s Champion”.
I use(d) Blessed Hammer with Thunderstrock, Punish with Roar, Provoke with Charged Up, Consecration with Shattered Ground, Heaven’s Fury with Split Fury.

My death message even says “Was slain…” Should it not say was slain by something?

As you can see here, there are not even any mobs around me, they kinda died together with me. So… be careful, if you are a Crusader, and if you experience an odd increase in damage taken…

I loved my friggin crusader, 100+ hours played, i know the hardcore rules, i have the first 20 deaths on hardcore, and i played inferno like a man back in the days… but loosing a character like this, to a bugged skill,  is really not cool, and i cant be the only one… FIX it, ress us crusaders, and let us move on.

After some detective work, and help from Reddit, it seems it is indeed the skill
Consecration – Shattered Ground that will do damage to your character. Be careful!! This is our second bugged skill after the patch! Well played!

Will Reaper of Souls launch with Ladder? In just about 5 hours we will know.

It might be abit pointless to even make this post, but something odd happened last night. I was playing my barb, and suddenly my self-created Community Channel “Hardcore Ladder” did… something. And let me point out, i am in 5 community channels, and i have never experienced this before, and it only happened to this one channel, not the other 4 i am in.

It actually disconnected me from the channel, saying it was unavailable (and it was). I immediately thought it was Blizzard taking my little channel, reserving it for them selves, or making it an “illegal community”. Just like you cannot name your community World of Warcraft and stuff like that.

Anyways, 5 minutes after, it established connection to Hardcore Ladder again… much to my dissapointment actually! But still, i find it extremely odd, and i have never seen it before, and i played quite abit since 2.0 released.

And do i need to explain how much i really want ladders? I just find it super fun to start from scratch every now and then, but it is impossible in Diablo 3, since for example the blacksmith stays level 10, and makes crafting stuff for alts way to easy. Not to mention i am sure the Diablo 3 team has some insanely nice Ladder features up their sleeves! I trust them!

Diablo 3 “Ladder” proof? Nah, but odd!

A fanmade Ladder community, suddenly being disabled in-game.

And Blizzard took away my hopes and dreams again…

And suddenly the Hardcore Ladder community comes back up. Sadly.

I know it is pretty far-reaching, but i honestly find it extremely weird that it was THAT channel which it happened to. But i might just be paranoid and seeing illuminati signs everywhere. No matter what, we will know in 5 hours… am i crazy, or am i crazy-good. Last i should add that Josh’s last tweet said “9PM PST” to a tweet asking about Ladders. Interesting!

Also, Blizzard is streaming some Q&A from their official Twitch stream, check it out! This was what Josh referred to… 9 PM PST! Also this post from a Community Manager… ahem. I will go on a limb here, and say Ladder is 99% coming.

I definitely recommend tuning in to the Live Q&A from the launch event tonight. I’ll be chatting with Josh Mosqueira and Wyatt Cheng in a round-table discussion, and we’ve taken some questions from Twitter to answer on stream as well.

So come and join us. You might just learn something new. 😉

Will the Crusader be as popular as Diablo 2’s insanely popular Paladin?

Yesterday was a good gaming day. I decided to reset quest with my Wizard, whom where around Paragon Level 90.
I was slowly moving forward in Torment 1, trying to get all the “defeat this boss in under 30 seconds in torment” achievements, and while doing that, i got various small legendaries on my way to Diablo.

When i reached the big boy erhm… chick herself, i had actually reached Paragon Level 99… not bad actually, and after killing Diablo, magic happened.

I got my guarenteed Legendary Drop, yay, and started to pick up the rares, and then suddenly 1 more Legendary dropped… and behold… a third Legendary dropped also! Three legendary drops, from a boss… i know this is probably super rare, but it felt so good, and reminded me of good old Diablo 2.

Diablo 3 magic…

3 wonderful legendaries dropped from Diablo.

I was pretty damn pleased, and surprised. Even better, the Amulet was actually Tal Rasha’s Allegiance… just to complete my Diablo 2 feels… and yes, it did feel good.
The other 2 legendaries were kinda bad, but it did not matter, my evening was almost complete, only 1 thing to do, as the image shows… i am very close to Paragon Level 100!

I fired up a new game, and started whacking random bosspacks. And 5 minutes later…

And thus i completed a perfect evening… by hitting Paragon Level 100.

What now?

My “pre-reaper” goal is complete now, my next couple of gaming days will be me leveling a new Barbarian, trying to acquire some Strength legendaries for the Crusader, which i will be creating as soon as i get my hands on the expansion. With the new 100% experience buff, it should go pretty fast, and heck… it is fun!

What about you? Do you have any last minute “pre-reaper” goals you still need to achieve?
